The knowledgeable and sensible gentleman of Kannada cinema and television TS Narasimhan departs. The rage he created from ‘Malgudi Days’ of RK Narayan that was in 1986 in Doodarshan is unforgettable.

Malgudi Days of RK Narayan was very popular in print but it was made more popular by TS Narasimhan with Shanker Nag handling the direction.  Narayan's brother, R. K. Laxman was the sketch artist. The series was made in 1986 by film producer T. S. Narasimhan with Anant Nag as the lead actor. Thirty-nine episodes of "Malgudi Days" were telecast on Doordarshan . Subsequently, it was re-telecast on Doordarshan and later on Sony Entertainment Television, and Maa Television in Telugu.

The Padmaraj TV International launched by TS Narasimhan ‘Malgudi Days’ was shot entirely near Agumbe in Shimoga District, Karnataka. It remains one of the most loved television serials. In 2004, the project was revived with film-maker Kavitha Lankesh replacing the late Shankar Nag as director. The new series was telecast from April 26, 2006 on Doordarshan.

TS Narasimhan in Komal Productions in 1973 made ‘Kesarina Kamala’ starring Minuguthare Kalpana and made a big sound.  It was directed by RN Jayagopal for Vijabhasker music.

TSN in noted film director also TSN – TS Nagabharana made ‘Banker Margayya’ (based on Financial Times of RK Narayan) that was well received and got rave reviews. Prior to that TS Narasimhan made ‘Bangarada Jinke’ starring Dr Vishnuvardhana, Dr Bharathi, Arathi, Leelavathi and others.

Winner of Life Time Achievement award for the year 2001 (Rs.50000 and citation) TS Narasimhan son Badrinath was also in to mass media. Badarinath made the first animation film with Seshagiri Yelimal and that ‘Chintu School’ – it is the first animation film in Kannada that bagged state government recognition.

T.S. Narasimhan, the producer of ‘Malgudi Days’ had the rights for `The Man Eater of Malgudi'. Anant Nag, brother of Shankar Nag wrote the screenplay and got the approval from R.K. Narayan on 3rd October 1993. Unfortunately the work could not progress but subsequently the details for the television programming were done. 

In October 2003 Anant Nag suggested young and talented director Kavitha Lankesh to direct and reproduce the Malgudi Days - a visual media of R.K. Narayan's writings. This was announced in a pres meet attended by T.S. Narasimhan, Anant Nag, Prakash Rai, Kavitha Lankesh and Tara.

It may be recalled that TS Narasimhan acquired the bank loan from Karnataka Banak of Rs.1.5 crores for his productions in Padmaraj TV International in those days.
